In this UW Foster Spotlight, Vishal Singh (Master of Supply Chain Management 2024) — who served as a Student Ambassador — offers insights into the Master of Supply Chain Management program at the University of Washington Foster School of Business.
Why choose the Foster School of Business for the Master of Supply Chain Management?
I chose the Foster School of Business in Seattle, Washington, for my Master of Supply Chain Management for several compelling reasons.
First, the school’s distinguished reputation as one of the top business schools in the United States caught my attention, instilling confidence in the quality of education I would receive.
Second, the location in Seattle, renowned as the birthplace of industry giants, further appealed to me. Being in a city with such a rich business history adds a unique and inspiring aspect to my academic journey.
Third, the program’s commitment to equipping students with the most relevant skills demanded in the market particularly appealed to me. Moreover, the program’s STEM designation is a key factor, indicating a strong focus on practical and applicable knowledge.
Finally, the inclusion of an immersive Practicum Project addressing real company challenges solidified my decision, as it ensures a hands-on and industry-relevant learning experience.
The University of Washington Foster School of Business experience
The campus is truly enchanting, and I must say, it’s one of the most captivating places I’ve ever encountered. From the iconic Suzzallo Library to the breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier from the Red Square, every corner seems to enhance the overall beauty of the campus.
Evening classes, which I initially approached with skepticism, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. They allowed me to juggle part-time job shifts in the mornings, providing a practical way to manage my finances while pursuing my course.
At Foster, we don’t just pursue our studies; we come together to celebrate festivals and create bonds within our exceptional cohort. Here, every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
The Student Ambassador’s Role
As a student ambassador, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to support new students in the Master of Supply Chain Management program.
Reflecting on my journey a year ago, arriving in Seattle left me with countless questions about student life at the University of Washington, the nearest gymnasium, must-visit places in the city, and the key to settling in well in this new environment.
A pivotal moment occurred when a fellow student ambassador came to my aid during the initial phase. They guided me in navigating the area and shared valuable insights about the program, making the transition incredibly smooth.
Giving back to the Master of Supply Chain Management program
Becoming a Student Ambassador has truly been a remarkable journey for me. Initially, my decision to take on this role stemmed from a desire to give back to the Master of Supply Chain Management program and express gratitude to the previous team of student ambassadors who had been instrumental during my own application process.
Little did I know that this experience would surpass my expectations in numerous ways.
