The Master of Science in Entrepreneurship is Foster’s new 12-month degree that embodies the startup process — from ideation and formation to execution and scale. It blends the best of business school education, practical content, world-class Seattle connections, and time in the program for students to get their startup off the ground. Our goal for students: turn that spark into reality.

Karen Mooney, Chief Executive Officer, C+C, Inc., B.A., Accounting, University of Washington

“I mentor student entrepreneurs because I enjoy working with people who are excited to be beginning of their career. I have been fortunate in mine and learned a lot the hard way. I enjoy sharing some of the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years.”

As a mentor, I excel at…

Business strategy, financial modeling, work-life balance, operations, HR, international business.

Don’t ask me about…

Fundraising or IT.

The one thing people should know about me is…

I purchased a small aerospace company with 4 employees and grew it into an $18M business while working 3 days a week and raising a family.

My favorite entrepreneurial book, blog, podcast is…

If you are new to working with venture capital companies and that is part of your plan, Venture Deals by Brad Feld is a great intro.

When I have free time, I…

Race sailboats, snow ski, go to the theater or symphony, sew, read, or watch football.

I manage everyday stress by…

Remembering how lucky I am, knowing that I’m doing the best I can and keeping things into perspective.

If I’m going out to dinner, I’ll generally order…

Pizza. It is nature’s most perfect food.

As a kid, I was fascinated by…

Music, mostly jazz or classical.

As an adult, I’m fascinated by…

So many things! Talent, kindness, art, politics, being on the water…

The person I admire most is…

Barack Obama.

I describe myself as…

Positive, active, friendly, introverted, adventurous.

My motto/tagline is…

Keep perspective, work hard and don’t sweat the small stuff.
